Free to enter the lake but $ to rent the tubes. It's a friendly environment. They have a little shop where you can buy other accessories like a waterproof cell/money bag that you can carry around your neck. The products are cheap. They have clothes too. The water is cold but it can be refreshing. It takes about an hour-hour and a half to make it back to your starting point, including the 10 min walk back. You will get a lot of sun if you're always in a tube so beware of that. It can get deep. There's trees for shade but no chairs or tables so bring your own.

Well, so the River is beautiful. The water is 72 degrees, it's cold in other words. So the staff said there is no wildlife in the San Marcos River. Well, that was a lie, there are fish, ducks and turtles. At least those are things we saw. Also, in certain parts of the River it's about 3-4feet. Other parts my feet couldn't touch the bottom and I'm 5'5. So, it was fun ( minus my paranoia lol), great adventure for a girl's Trip or any other trip.

Tube rental great! They just put in a bigger parking lot so that's nice. River can be a little murky/grassy sometimes but such a nice float. We've been multiple times the last 5 years and always a good experience. Peak times there's a wait for rental but that's to be expected. Shuttles run very frequently, not a long wait.

I took a large group (27) here and the staff were super super helpful with preparing us and answering all of my questions. The lines can move a bit slow but this is due in large part to my first comment about them being super helpful and answering lots of questions. I would recommend Lions Club get a PA/Speaker system that played some of the more useful facts on a loop. This looping announcement could include things like the last shuttle time, information on tube option, where to take out and the duration or other things that the staff finds themselves answering over and over. Or maybe have a floater or separate information stand...

It was our first Texas river tubing experience - the river wasn't too crowded and the unlimited shuttles were great. All of the staff were friendly. In their retail shop, the sunscreen options were limited and the bottles looked old (labels were dirty and starting to peel). We had a great time!
