First time we came here it was 3 hrs before close we walked into an empty place an told they were closed.. few days later bout the same time walked in to a hot restraunt but we ordered anyway all but one fountain was out of service but the food was good. Today we stopped in for a quick lunch got greeted an ordered right away the doors are still open to allow airflow an it was comfortable inside got our drinks but there was no ketchup. Went to the front they said to use the other dispenser it was empty as well. An no one ever offered an explanation or ketchup from the kitchen just simply an ok an the cashier turned around an continued yapping. She came out an cleaned tables but just looked at the dispenser an walked off. So 3 stars cause I'm disappointed .. but as we are leaving an several patrons have now complained about the ketchup the cook had to come out an refill the dispenser. Not sure we will be back.

I recently went vegetarian as of about a month ago & one thing I miss are burgers.

My boyfriend and I came to eat here and took a detour on our way to Corpus bc he loves the gilla monster so much and has been coming for 30yrs. He was so disappointed it broke my heart. They made both burgers wrong. They were barely warm. And I ended up with a regular cheese burger.. there was no ketchup. I had to ask three times. And no lids for the cups so we had to leave our drinks. He was so mad about his burger he threw most of it away.. I don't think he will be back. The quality of the food wasn't what I expected from an establishment that has been around so long. There wasn't any care with how it was made. If you care about the reputation of your establishment at least train the college kids working to have customer service. No one welcomed us when we came in and we were at the counter several minutes before our order was taken. I hope some changes are made and the original recipes are put to use. I could of had better food at a drive thru. And that is disappointing.

This is my number one favorite burger place in San Marcos. The hickory burger is fantastic at a great price. The manske rolls are pretty good too, pretty much the only sweet roll that I like. I only have one issue with the restaurant, and it's that they have low resolution photos on the wall. It's literally the only downside.

Quick service, meal for two was about $16, their buns are sweet. Fries are soft and skinny ( my personal preference). Staff could be a little more friendly but they aren't rude.

Gil's has one of the best black bean veggie burgers. I think it's the best I've had so far. The patty tastes a little burned like a real burger off of a grill. It had a slightly sweet taste to it. The fries were very good as well.
